National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's
NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICES LABORATORY
Honolulu, Hawaii

Ferraro Choi was the architect for the proposed National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Marine Fisheries Services Honolulu Laboratory adjacent to the University of Hawaii's Manoa campus. This $40,000,000-plus project was designed to meet the U.S. Government's Sustainable Design Guidelines, which mandates that all buildings and site design be reviewed according to those standards. The design experience of this project gave the Ferraro Choi design team a heightened awareness of the government's intent, as well as working knowledge in the application of sustainable design principles in the design process.
