Ferraro Choi received its 16th and 17th design awards for the Honolulu Academy of Arts Renovation and Reinstallation project. Along with an Award of Merit from the Honolulu Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the project also received the Mayor's Choice Award, which was selected by Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann from among the Award of Excellence and Award of Merit projects as selected by the AIA jurors.

As quoted from the Design Awards 2006 Program:

"It's hard to overstate the impressive quality of this eight-year project, an extensive renovation and reinstallation of the entire historic portion of the Honolulu Academy of Arts galleries, more than 17,000 square feet in all. State-of-the-art environmental controls, air conditioning and proper lighting have been unobtrusively installed, and the Academy's historic architectural character has been recaptured and strengthened. The building is, more than ever, an attraction in its own right."
